We have our own perspectives on adoption and foster care, but what about those who have been there? Do children adopted at birth experience trauma? Do our kids ever feel different or out of place? What kinds of things do they wonder and think about? We’re interviewing adults who have been adopted or spent time in foster care to get their perspective on all kinds of things – many of which you may be wondering about, but also things you may have never considered. Some of the topics we cover are: * The things they appreciate their parents did for them. * Dealing with unknown medical history. * How they’ve experienced other people’s views of adoption. * Dealing with the desire to know their biological family. * Ways of interacting with adopted & foster children that are hurtful. * The best thing their parents did for them. * Why you should never hide information about adoption from your child. * How trauma impacted their childhood and adulthood. * How to talk to your kids about being adopted. * and more!
