How Are Made Tattoos?

by

We all know, or think we know, what the basic mechanics of a tattoo are: a needle introduces the drawing ink deep enough that it stays there for years, until we decide to remove it.

Actually, this is not exactly the case. The tattoo artist’s needle does not push the ink under our skin, rather the ink hangs like a drop from the tip of the needle. This makes a hole in the skin, both in the epidermis and in the dermis, and the action of the capillaries causes the ink to enter inside them as if it were sucked into a straw.

We invite you to learn more about this and other curious topics on our Find Out How! Podcast channel.
