I’m a a book-loving, notebook-hoarding literacy teacher educator on a mission to change lives one book and one notebook at a time. On this podcast, we explore the power of leading literate lives. We talk all things books and reading AND notebooks and writing. We lean into our curiosity and creativity and embrace a spirit of lifelong learning to cultivate a life we love.
Sometimes, the bookish themes I share are fun and whimsical.
Sometimes, the bookish themes I share are unexpected.
And sometimes, the bookish themes I share are serious.
Today is a serious kind of day.
According to the Center for Disease Control, 6 in 10 Americans are battling a chronic health diagnosis and 4 in 10 Americans are battling multiple chronic diseases.
That’s a lot of people dealing with a lot of heavy stuff.
I’m one of them.
Today, I’m sharing three books you need to read when you are faced with a diagnosis. Books that will help you feel less alone, find the humor in the midst of struggle and most importantly, show you the way forward.
You’ll find all the books mentioned here in the show notes page, plus much more!
If you loved these book pairings, you might like to take a look at my digital reading and writing community called Get Lit(erate). Each month, we take a deep dive into one bookish theme and work to bring it to life in our own lives. You’ll get a monthly bibliotherapy book calendar with a book recommendation for every day of the month, bonus episodes, live book club sessions and much more. Learn more at www.getliterate.co.
