Episode Highlights

– Misperceptions on saliva
– At home experiment
– Indicators of basic saliva and good quality saliva
– How to make good quality saliva
– Protein and Arginine

“There seems to be a misperception that the amount of saliva in your mouth is equated to how healthy your mouth is”

“You can have a little bit of really good saliva, or a lot of bad saliva”

“Its not just about the quantity of saliva, It is about the quality of that saliva”

“If you look in a patients mouth and see a lot of calculus oddly enough that is a good indication of high quality saliva”

“They could brush their teeth really well, every day, and they will still form calculus because their saliva is basic”

“What that means is your are applying fluoride varnish incorrectly, that means you are doing it wrong”

“You have told those salivary glands to create higher quality saliva”

“More protein in the diet means more protein in the saliva”
