Out of sight, out of mind. We don’t see the greenhouse gas emissions from livestock farming when we bite into a hamburger. We don’t see the groundwater leaching from landfills after the garbage truck turns the corner. We don’t see a planet suffering from human exploitation —rather a convenient resource, ready to give and be acknowledged once every 365 days. The Happy Earth Day podcast offers an alternative way of understanding the consequences of our everyday actions via a series of interview from around the world. It serves to not only educate but also challenge us to continue these conversations outside of the show with others in our community. Season 1 is all about the ways we connect to our planet whether it’s through technology, science, policy, music, religious faith, culture, food, history, etc. and seeing the ways in which these perspectives develop in different regions of the world. I hope these stories inspire you to cultivate your own connection with the natural world and bring change to your communities.
