My YouTube Journey

My YouTube Journey

by

A weekly podcast where I share my experiences as I try to grow a YouTube Tech Channel from zero to who knows how many subscribers!

In this episode I discuss my progress after 2 full weeks on YouTube…. Spoiler alert, 35 subscribers and $25 in affiliate commissions!! I then talk about the purchases I made to help with my video content creation, but also how I’ve repurposed a lot of my existing tech gear and manage with it just fine! My Mic is the Shure MV7 ( https://amzn.to/3orJc5R ). Not the cheapest of microphones, but I think that it represents great value and it’s killer feature is that it has both XLR and USB outputs, so you can plug it straight into your computer, or into a higher grade audio interface such as the Rodecaster Pro ( https://amzn.to/2RmhH1t ), which is what I shall be adding into my setup in the future. My Mic is then running through Audio Hijack app on my Mac ( https://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/ ) to filter out background noise. My lighting is pretty generic and certainly not using the latest and greatest! However if you are interested in some of the product I use, you can see them here: Low Cost Pair of Soft Box Lights: https://amzn.to/3ePDszRUlanzi VL49 RGB: https://amzn.to/33OVrzPMy camera is a 10 year old Canon EOS 60D. This could be hooked up to my computer using an Elgato Calming 4K ( https://amzn.to/3w6LxWw ) and this certainly would be the most ‘plug and play’ solution. However, I am using Canons own EOS Webcam Utility software which you can download free from their website ( https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/self-help-center/eos-webcam-utility ). I’m using a dummy battery and a remote shutter button with my camera as well, and is mounted to my floor standing monitor stand with a Ball mount from Andoer.
