In a matter of days, our world has significantly changed. A week ago, we could go to restaurants with large groups of friends. A week ago, we could go out to the movies if we wanted. A week ago, we were cheering on our favorite college basketball teams as March Madness was only beginning. A week ago the four of us were teaching 8th graders at Oldham County Middle School. In a matter of days, we went from teaching in our classrooms with 8th graders surrounding us, to creating digital lessons for our students from miles away. We went from laughing in the hallways together to group messages and emails. We went from high fiving students to lagging Google Meet conversations. A week ago we would have never made this podcast. We’re just four teachers who want to stay connected to our students, our school community, and one another. This podcast is a way for us to do that while still keeping our distance. Each episode we will take 5 questions from our own students to discuss and explore topics and ideas suggested to us by them. You can absolutely expect laughing and sarcasm, but, more than that, you can expect to hear a unique perspective into the infamous NTI days from the view of the teachers behind the screen! We’d love to take you along this journey with us. A lot can change in a week. A week ago, our students would have seen us laughing together in the hallways of Oldham County Middle School, today they’ll hear us laughing on a podcast.
