Rhodes Scholars and friends of the Rhodes Scholarships speak about global challenges and ideas focused around service and leadership. It includes material from the 110th Rhodes Anniversary, which was celebrated in Oxford 19-20 September 2013. The Hon. C. Tom McMillen, Ms Carina Venter and Mr John Wylie discuss sports at the Rhodes House 110th Anniversary event. Former and current athletes on this panel discuss changes in sports and achievement requirements over the last 100 years. With commercialisation pushing athletes into the professional arena and squeezing out the amateurs, the speakers explore the roles this sporting evolution has created ranging from leisure and physical health to diplomacy and social change. They also touch on the associated ethical challenges such as doping and match-fixing and their influences the future of sports.
