Thrive + Learn is a project of The Rhode Island Association for the Education of Young Children. Hosted by RIAEYC staff member, Alyson Panzarella, Thrive + Learn explores topics related to early childhood education including conversations about NAEYC’s core positions statements, updates on current early childhood policy and advocacy, and other helpful resources for the child care workforce in Rhode Island and beyond.
Active, outdoor free play is an important part of early childhood curriculum. On this episode, Alyson is joined by RIAEYC board member, Martha Donovan and Angela J. Hanscom, author, pediatric occupational therapist, and founder of TimberNook—an award-winning developmental and nature-based program that has gained international popularity, to discuss the many benefits of immersing children in the natural environment.
