The purpose of CFTC Talks is to provide information about the commodity markets, futures trading and other information about conditions in this country and abroad that affect the markets. Our goal is to talk about and get information on all things impacting these markets. We’re going to talk with a wide range of experts in the markets: government agencies and offices, exchanges and clearing houses, authors and researchers, and market participants. Please listen to the introductory podcast to get more information on why we’re doing this and to listen to an important disclaimer about the podcast.

Staff studied the multiple effects of capital rules across different asset classes and different clearing member groups. The evidence suggests that the leverage ratio requirement has pushed derivative clearing activities to less constrained institutions and market segments.
